He studied English & Theatre Arts at Goldsmiths
College during which time he worked in record shops where
he met all the movers and shakers, and where Norman Jay refused
to be served by him because he was wearing an Arsenal shirt!
After graduating he became a music journalist for magazines
such as Time Out, Mixmag, Muzik. Being a DJ and a journalist
meant he could sit on both sides of the fence and managed
to get stories from the top clubs and dj's. He then went on
to start a music PR company promoting acts such as Portishead,
Brand New Heavies as well as underground DJs and artists.
Tayo also ran a dance label called Mob Records.
He has been successfully djing all around the
world for ten years since starting a drum and bass night at
University and playing alongside Fabio, Grooverider and Peshay.
He also started a club night with Basement Jaxx, which became
the name of their second album ("Rooty") as well
as the first breaks night in the UK called Friction which
had Carl Cox, Andrew Weatherall and Leftfield amongst the
guests. He Dj's every year on the terrace at Space in Ibiza
and is a resident at Fabric. He has also released four mix
albums.
