As much as he has rubbed shoulders with some of the worlds most famous he is most in his element behind the decks entertaining the masses...and after a decade as a professional DJ there has been some entertaining!! He has been the un-official ambassador of UK Garage taking the music first to Ibiza and Ayai Napa, Miami and New York. Amsterdam was also a favourite as was Cape Town and Italy.
The media friendly DJ has also crossed over into the world of television. As well as contesting the current edition of Strictly Come Dancing on BBC!, he has presented Soccer AM on Sky Sports and made appearances on numerous hit TV programmes such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks, The Weakest Link and Test the Nation.
As a dj Spoony mixed the gold selling 'TwiceasNice' Compilation series Summer of Love I, II and III and as a member of Dreem Teem, Spoony turned underground sounds into national chart hits. The chart smash the "Dreem Teem Theme" led to work on multiple re-mixes for artists including Shola Ama, All Saints and Faith Evans. "Buddy X '99'" featuring Neneh Cherry, is their biggest hit to date. In 2004, Spoony was the executive producer on a re-worked "All Together Now" by The Farm the official song for the England Euro 2004 football campaign.
His contribution to club-land was recognised in 2001 when he was awarded the prestigious 'MOBO' for 'Best DJ'. This capped a great five years of UK Garage growing from an underground music to being at the forefront of the UK's club scene.
Spoony injects a cheeky style into everything he does. be it entertaining an intimate crowd at Mr. Beckham's birthday party or shaking his stuff in front of millions on Strictly Come Dancing. Few DJs can say they have remained at the top of a scene for near on a decade, yet this man can!
'I only wanted to play records and make people dance' he said. Mission accomplished I'd say. |
