By the time that you read this, Russ Williams will have celebrated 20 years service at One Golden Square. For a broadcaster to spend two decades at one commercial radio station is incredibly rare and it’s an achievement that is unlikely to be repeated.
Russ is the epitome of professionalism and put simply he is at the heart of Absolute Radio’s daily life. He was part of the Sony award-winning duo Russ and Jono, he’s hosted drivetime and for 15 years he’s been Absolute’s mid-morning anchor. His passion for radio, music, football and his loyal listenership is unswerving. It’s not just One Golden Square where Russ has excelled – he deputised for Chris Tarrant on the Capital Breakfast show, hosted programmes at ‘ Talk Sport ’ and broadcast on Metro, Mercury and Southern Sound alongside his work as a recognised TV and commercial voiceover artist.
The birth of Absolute Radio and its acquisition of Barclays Premier League commentary rights allowed Russ to indulge in his other passion – football. His analysis of tactics, games and goals brings forth his journalistic credentials: He does the Pre Match Build-up on Saturday Afternoons before continuing his legendary Rock And Roll Football show. A lifelong Spurs fan, he’s also the author of two best-selling books on the beautiful game.
