Contact us about working with Andrew Cotter

Andrew Cotter has established himself as one of the premier voices of Golf, Rugby and Tennis on both BBC Television and Radio.

Originally from Troon in south-west Scotland, Andrew has worked in sports broadcasting for over a decade. After graduating with an MA in French and Philosophy from The University of Glasgow, he began his career in commercial radio in Scotland and enjoyed a spell at Sky News before joining the BBC in 2000.

Originally a presenter of sports bulletins on 5 Live, as well as Radio 1, 2 and 4, Andrew then became one of the sports presenters on The BBC News Channel, while at the same time building a career as one of the brightest commentators on Golf and Rugby for BBC Radio. His quick wit and wonderfully deep clear Ayrshire accent has described, amongst many other events, The 6 Nations, The Ryder Cup, The US Masters, US Open and USPGA.

Since 2003, Andrew has become one of the BBC’s main television commentators on both Golf and Rugby as well as presenting events such as golf’s Dunhill Links, Rugby Special and The Women's British Open golf.

Andrew is an accomplished speaker, who has hosted and spoken at events for organisations as varied as golf's European Tour, Barclays, HSBC and BMW. And he has also been a contributing writer to various golf magazines and newspapers.

He considers his favourite moments in broadcasting as interviewing Tiger Woods, Bill Clinton and Michael Jordan all on the same day that he described Darren Clarke’s emotional victory at the 2006 Ryder Cup.

Just a few of the events Andrew has commentated on in 2011 for The BBC are The 6 Nations, The Masters, The Open Championship, The Australian Open and Wimbledon, while he is also a regular voice on ESPN's coverage of The Aviva Premiership rugby.

In all of his work, whether it be behind the microphone or in front of the camera, as a speaker, a writer or a voice-over artist, Andrew brings a hugely assured presence as well as a wonderful turn of phrase and a great sense of humour.
